CampusSource Conference 2021

As one of the first public appearances of AR/VR.nrw for the broader public, the CampusSource Conference 2021 was the perfect opportunity to showcase the core vision, goals and current activities in the project.

The sponsoring association CampusSource e.V. invited guests to the CampusSource Conference 2021 on May 26, 2021., which was hosted online by the FernUniversität in Hagen.

The conference was aimed at digitization officers, IT and organizational staff, librarians, researchers and teachers at universities.

Regarding digital strategies at universities, colleges and other institutions, two important institutions reported on the growing political emphasis on open source in the current digital strategies of Europe and the federal government. These strategy elements are expected to have a medium-term impact on educational institutions as part of government and society.

These and other contributions to this year’s conference revolved around a CampusSource core topic, namely open source and, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the CampusSource Exchange, also a little bit about CampusSource itself. Contributions touched on the topics of NextGenLMS, Open Science, the Open Source software development process and AR/VR in teaching.

Presentation of Figments.nrw

As one of the first public appearances of AR/VR.nrw for the broader public, the CampusSource Conference 2021 was the perfect opportunity to showcase the core vision, goals and current activities in the project.

Christian Dominic Fehling of the University of Wuppertal (Institute SIKoM) talked about learning with augmented and virtual reality in general, implications these technologies have for the way we currently teach and learn and how AR/VR.nrw tackles these issues with Figments.nrw.
